According to reliable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple plans to launch two new iPhone SE models in the next two years. We already know this about the iPhone SE 2022 and iPhone SE 2023.
iPhone SE 2022
The first iPhone SE appeared in 2016; after that we had to wait four years for a new generation. In the coming years, Apple seems to want to release the popular device much more regularly. That should happen in both 2022 and 2023.
We can expect the first SE in the first half of 2022, reports Kuo. This unit has no spectacular changes. Kuo previously predicted that the iPhone SE 2022 will look exactly like the current iPhone SE 2020. The now somewhat dated design with home button will remain, as will a 4.7-inch LCD display. It also has 3 GB of RAM.
But under the hood, Apple is making some interesting changes. For example, there’s 5G support and a much more powerful chip is coming in – probably the A15 Bionic chip that’s currently in the iPhone 13 series. And no doubt the camera will get better, although we haven’t heard any rumors about it yet.
We expect Apple to launch the 4.7-inch iPhone SE 2022 in March or April. Are you ready for a new iPhone and you want an SE, then it might be smart to wait a little longer for your purchase. The suggested retail price will probably remain about the same; about 489 euros.
iPhone 2023
In 2023, the iPhone SE will get more interesting improvements. For example, the budget-friendly device will have a larger screen and 4 GB of RAM, reports Kuo in his latest predictions. The Apple oracle doesn’t give more details, so it’s not clear exactly how big the screen will be.
There have been rumors that this larger iPhone SE model has an iPhone XR-esque design. This means that the screen becomes a lot more borderless and the home button disappears. The device also has an LCD screen – probably the last iPhone ever.
