Apple works on the iPhone 17 Ultra
In recent years, rumors have appeared several times that Apple would work on a high-end ultra-phone. Such an ultra device could possibly replace the Pro Max or be even better. These rumors appeared in the run-up to the iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 launch. They eventually led to nothing, but now the rumors are back.
The Korean news blog ‘Yeux1122‘Based on sources from Weibo, Taiwan summarized all the rumors about an iPhone 17 ultra. The following changes are emphasized in this, which have so far been attributed to different models of the upcoming iPhone 17 series:
- A smaller Dynamic Island.
- A ‘Vapor Chamber’ cooling system.
- A larger battery.
Analyst Jeff Pu said in October that the iPhone 17 Pro Max would get a smaller Dynamic Island, but this statement is disputed by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Yeux1122 claims that based on ordered parts for a smaller Dynamic Island, there is not enough supplied for both the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max. This suggests that only the larger Ultra gets a smaller Dynamic Island.
Yeux1122 also claims that only the Ultra gets a ‘Vapor Chamber’ cooling system and that the ultra is thicker than the iPhone 17 Pro due to a larger battery.
New overview of the iPhone 17 series
As a result of the aforementioned changes, the iPhone 17 line-up this year, according to Yeux1122, looks like this:
