After having launched three very special X versions on the market, Aprilia has gone one step further with the RSV4 X ex3ma. With a peak power of 230 hp at 165 kilos, and extensive aerodynamics including a spoiler under the swingarm for the so-called ground effect, the RSV4 X ex3ma is the most extreme circuit bike ever. Only 30 units will be available for an exclusive price of 80,000 euros.
The Aprilia Racing department in Casa di Noale has added a new chapter to the Aprilia X adventure, which began in 2019 with the RSV4 X. The RSV was followed by the Tuono X, followed in 2022 by the RSV4 X Thirty. While the first RSV4 and Tuono X were marketed in a super-exclusive edition of just 10 units, the X Thirty has increased that number to 30 units. The fourth X chapter, the RSV4 X ex3ma, will also be produced by the Aprilia Racing department in an edition of 30 units.
The RSV4 X ex3ma features many of the technologies developed by Aprilia Racing in MotoGP and seen on the machines of Maverick Vinales and Aleix Espargaro. For example, the fairing is fitted with huge winglets that should generate the necessary downforce for more pressure on the front and more stability when braking.
According to Aprilia, the two winglets on the sides of the fairing make it possible to use the air pressure between the ground and the fairing to increase grip in the bend. An innovation patented by Aprilia that is now also equipped on the RSV4 X ex3ma, the first and only bike in the world available to the public with this technical solution.
The entire aerodynamic package includes the newly designed front wing, the lower wing under the swingarm and the curved winglets in the lower part of the front wing. The entire fairing is made of carbon, using the same moulding process as the RSV4 MotoGP bikes, and according to Aprilia, compared to the RSV4 X Thirty, it allows a five-fold increase in the vertical air load in a straight line, increasing stability and riding precision and reducing the tendency to wheelie. The advantages are even valid when leaning, where a three-fold increase in load is claimed, with benefits in terms of grip when cornering.
The special Perla Nera livery is inspired by the brand’s history, with the glossy black and graphic finishes paying clear tribute to Max Biaggi’s RS 250, the 250cc two-stroke racer with which the Roman rider won three consecutive world championships, from 1994 to 1996, in the 250 class.
This is the same livery chosen by Aprilia Racing during the Silverstone race, when the 75th anniversary of MotoGP was celebrated and all the manufacturers took to the track with a striking livery.
“Taking part in the development of a bike like the RSV4 X ex3ma was like being at the test sessions of a real racing prototype. It’s a bit like pre-season testing, where the technical foundations for a whole season are laid.
Likewise, the dedication on the track has been unceasing, with the aim of preparing a bike that offers its fortunate riders the same sensations as a racing prototype. And in many ways this bike really is, because it is the first time that such an extensive set-up, including the various parameters introduced by MotoGP aerodynamics, has been developed for passionate customers.
I am really happy with the work we have done. The bike is exciting to look at and the Perla Nera colours bring a glorious history to life. On the track it was an explosion of emotions – you could feel the downforce of the ground effect fairing in fast corners, a great sensation. 30 exclusive, completely handmade units will be produced by Aprilia Racing, which makes this bike even more special.”
The technical data describe a true racing bike without compromises. The legendary 65° V4 engine, with a displacement of 1,099 cc, has been refined by the engine specialists at Aprilia Racing and delivers 230 hp at 13,500 rpm (with a maximum rev limit of 13,900 rpm) and 131 Nm of torque at 11,000 rpm. This performance is achieved through specific tuning of the V4, including a higher compression ratio, a Sprint Filter high-flow air filter and an SC Project exhaust system with titanium headers and dual tailpipes.
The evolution of the Aprilia RSV4 X ex3ma goes beyond aerodynamic and engine innovations – the electronic systems also take this superbike to a new level of technology and performance. The ECU that manages all the active electronic controls is Aprilia Racing’s renowned APX, an exclusive component and the latest evolution of the system used in the WSBK world championships won by Biaggi on the RSV4.
This ECU features the same control strategies as the RSV4 racing models and includes an integrated data acquisition system, which uses specific sensors essential for fine-tuning the vehicle dynamics. In particular, the APX system allows precise calibration of wheelie control, power, traction control and engine braking for each gear.
The rider can adjust these parameters while riding using the dedicated push-button panel or while tuning the bike via an editable interface software on the supplied laptop. An integrated GPS further expands the APX system. A Yashi laptop is supplied with the bike to effectively manage the ECU software.
The multi-titled aluminum twin-spar frame, long a symbol of Aprilia’s mastery of agile, precise frames and suspension, is enhanced by mechanical suspension by Öhlins with a custom setup, including an advanced compression fork. The Brembo braking system comprises a 19×16 radial pump at the front, GP4 MS billet calipers with Z04 racing pads and 330 mm T Drive brake discs, while the rear brake disc is fitted with a caliper with surface nickel plating.
The Aprilia RSV4 X ex3ma features carbon rims, which reduce weight and unsprung mass, improving handling, acceleration and braking. These rims are fitted with the same slick tyres used by Pirelli in the World Superbike Championship: SC1 (front, 125/70) and SCX (rear, 200/65).
Every detail shows the meticulous craftsmanship that Aprilia Racing has invested in this model, including the carbon mudguards. The right-hand switchgear is a Jetprime racing part, while the adjustable footrests, clutch lever, handlebar plate (engraved with the model’s serial number), fuel cap, engine casing and front brake lever skid plate are all made of billet aluminium.
The oversized water and oil coolers, made to racing specifications by Taleo Tecnoracing, ensure even better performance. The final drive has a titanium crown, a lighter PBR sprocket and an RK racing chain.
Each of the 30 Aprilia RSV4 X ex3ma bikes, priced in Europe at 80,000 euros (excluding VAT), will be available to reserve exclusively online from September at FACTORYWORKS.APRILIA.COM. Lucky buyers will have the unique opportunity to collect their bike from Aprilia Racing in Noale, with an exclusive visit to the racing division. In addition to their limited and numbered RSV4, they will receive a Yashi laptop, a personalized bike cover, a special carpet and a paddock stand.
