At a time when one after the other sports enthusiast draws extra horsepower from an electric motor, Aston Martin casually spoons a fat twelve-cylinder into the Vantage. The brand confirms that it will add the V12 Vantage to its portfolio next year.

Aston Martin releases the logo of the V12 Vantage and in the process flings a short video into the world in which the great whine of the twelve-cylinder can be heard. It seems to be the last time that you can knock on Aston Martin for a sports coupe with V12. Aston Martin does not describe the V12 Vantage as a ‘Limited Edition’, but specifically calls it a ‘Final Edition’. This also suggests that the V12 Vantage heralds the end of the current Vantage generation, although that car has only been around since the end of 2017.

It is not the first time that Aston Martin has released a V12 Vantage. About fourteen years ago, the brand hung the V12 from the DB9 in the V8 Vantage, with the V12 Vantage as a result. The new V12 Vantage promises to be far from childish. The V12 Speedster, presented this year and to be built in a limited edition, had a 700 hp blown 5.2 V12 and in the DBS Superleggera the twelve-cylinder engine produces no less than 725 hp. The current Vantage is currently only available with a V8.

That a new V12 Vantage is in the pipeline is actually no surprise. Earlier this year we were able to show you this test sample of the V12 Vantage, complete with centrally placed exhaust pipes and a whole series of cooling openings in the hood to provide the V12 with enough cooling. On to 2022.
