Morgan has also discovered the appeal of limited edition models to super-rich customers. So after the great Morgan Plus Four CX-T, this Morgan Plus 8 GTR follows: the strongest car that the English car maker has ever put on the road.
“The Plus 8 GTR project is only possible thanks to the recent availability of a number of Plus 8 chassis,” Morgan wrote in a press release. That’s a neat way of saying that the small sports car maker has discovered a few more chassis in the back of the shed, covered in a thick layer of dust. And on that nine Plus 8 GTRs are built.

In case you think: ‘nice, I want a Morgan Plus 8 GTR’! Then you unfortunately miss the net. All nine GTRs have already been sold: four will remain in the UK, five will go to international customers. They are all designed with the individual wishes of the buyers in mind. This first one is beautifully finished in the color Yas Marina Blue.
BMW’s N62-V8 now delivers more power than ever
The Morgan model range consists of the Plus Four (with four-cylinder) and the Plus Six (with six-cylinder). The Plus 8 was built since 1968 and was withdrawn from production three years ago. Like the controversially styled Morgan Aero 8, the new GTR has a 4.8 liter N62 V8 from BMW, which no longer produces 367 hp, but 380 hp. And that makes the GTR the most powerful Morgan ever.
Design inspired by Plus 8 race cars from the 90s
The designers of the Plus 8 GTR were inspired by the Plus 8 race cars, which took part in the FIA GT racing series in the late 1990s. According to Morgan, the limited-edition sports car is a “perfect swan song” for the V8 engine. Why did the company wait more than three years with that swan song?
