An Apple ad written by Steve Jobs has fetched a huge amount of money at auction. That’s how much the Apple ad was worth!
Steve Jobs’ handwritten advertisement auctioned
A handwritten advertisement from Steve Jobs has been sold at auction in the United States. And that happened for a considerable amount, as the note was sold for no less than 175,759 dollars. In the ad, Steve Jobs was promoting the Apple-1, Apple’s first computer (and product in general) to be sold. The PC was first sold in 1976.

Steve Jobs wrote the advertisement himself, and his parents’ address can be read at the bottom of the note. That is also where Apple started years ago. Two Polaroids have been added to the advertisement, showing the Apple-1. Nice detail: under one of the Polaroids a caption has been added that the photo is blurry because the camera shook when taking the photo.

Apple-1 was Apple’s first computer
The Apple-1 is Apple’s first computer and one of the first PCs in the world. Basically, the Apple-1 was just a separate circuit board with chips, which looked completely different from the computers we use today. You paid ‘only’ $666.66 for the Apple-1 in 1976. You had to buy the housing, power supply, keyboard and screen yourself.
The fact that the Apple-1 could be connected to a monitor and keyboard was new at the time, making the computer extremely innovative. Only 200 devices of the Apple-1 were produced, after which Apple switched to the Apple-2. In addition to the advertisement, the computer was also sold during the auction. The Apple-1 itself sold for $233,520, much more than the asking price 40 years ago.

Old Apple devices worth a lot of money
Steve Jobs’ Apple-1 advertisement was therefore only produced to a limited extent, which is why the computer has previously generated a lot of money. In 2010, an Apple-1 was offered for sale at an auction for 175,000 euros. If the computer still works, it is worth even more. For example, a functioning Apple-1 was sold for 295,900 euros in 2013. This record was surpassed two years ago; back then, a still working Apple-1 sold for as much as $400,000.

Steve Jobs’ Apple ad is not the first from Apple that has generated a lot of money at an auction, as iPhones have previously been sold for extremely high amounts. For example, old iPhones have previously been auctioned for $54,000 and $63,000. So do you still have an old Apple product lying around? Then keep it safe, because you may be able to ask for money for it later.
