Of the current Audi A3 Sportback and A3 Limousine, there is of course also an extra spicy RS3 to come. Audi apparently can’t wait for the official unveiling and shows the two sportsmen without camouflage.
In an interview with Sebastian Grams and Rolf Michl, respectively general manager and sales director of Audi Sport, the brand puts both variants of the new RS3 in the foreground among the other well-trained models from Ingolstadt. Apart from a striking print, the two are not provided with camouflage, so that the adjustments for the RS3 can be admired for the first time. At the front, the large air intakes on either side of the grille stand out, which are clearly a size larger than is the case with the S3. A honeycomb structure can be seen in the grille and a slightly larger splitter adorns the front bumper.
Audi thus in fact follows the recipe of the previous RS3. It also confirms what was already observable in the spy footage. The mudguards have also been knocked out a little further and the RS3 has wheels that seem a size larger. In addition, the sills are slightly thicker and the two well-known oval chutes can be seen in the diffuser at the rear. The honeycomb returns in the rear bumper, albeit in black plastic. Audi keeps the interior under wraps for the official unveiling, but do not expect anything shocking compared to the S3, apart from sports seats and other upholstery.
horsepower race
Since the Mercedes-AMG A45 S squeezes 421 hp from its four-cylinder turbo, it is obvious that Audi will bring the RS3 to at least that level. In the previous model, the 2.5 TFSI squeezed out 400 hp. The new RS3 again gets the five-cylinder on board and presumably with a slight increase in power to keep up with the competition. A nice detail: the numbers that Audi has pasted on the side of the RS3, show the ignition order of the five-cylinder. For the final information, we have to wait for the official unveiling. It is scheduled for later this year.
