Audi invests (even) more in EVs

Audi Q4 E-Tron

Audi is investing 18 billion euros in the development of electric cars over the next five years. That is more than the amount mentioned last year. The total investment budget is also slightly increased.

The investment plans are announced by Audi’s financial director Jürgen Rittensberger. In total, in the period up to and including 2026, Audi will invest an amount of 37 billion euros in research, development and, for example, business machines. In 2020, another €35 billion in investments was promised for the following five years, i.e. up to 2025.

If we look purely at the development of electric and hybrid powertrains, this will involve an amount of 18 billion euros for the next five years. That was still 15 billion for 2020-2025. So more, and that should also lead to great results. By 2025, Audi wants to have ‘more than 20’ fully electric models in its range. Audi aims to sell 3 million cars worldwide by 2030. That was 1.7 million last year.
