Audi Q7 and Q8 also available as a plug-in: significantly more electric range

The Audi Q7, renewed for the second time, will also be available as a plug-in hybrid. It goes a lot further than before, fully electric. The Q8 is also back with a plug.

The now more than nine-year-old Audi Q7 is ready to go again thanks to a second facelift. The exterior refresh was more drastic than you might think at first glance, but at the same time it remained technically familiar. The major absence from the presentation in January were the plug-in hybrid versions. However, they are now also included. It turns out that the driving range in particular has improved considerably.

Previously you could drive less than 50 km fully electrically with the plug-in Q7s, but now the driving range according to the WLTP cycle is 84 km. This applies to both the Q7 55 TFSI e and the Q7 60 TFSI e. Recharging is possible with a maximum of 7.4 kW and a full charge takes you three hours and 45 minutes. Both plug-in hybrid versions have also become a step stronger. The 55 is now not 381 hp but 394 hp, the 60 goes from 456 hp system power to 490 hp. This gives the first a 0-100 km/h sprint that takes 5.7 seconds and the second completes the trick in 5.0 seconds. The top speed is 240 km/h, fully electric it stops at 135 km/h.

Audi immediately announces the starting prices of the plug-in hybrid Q7. Prices start at €92,460 for the 55 TFSI e quattro as Pro Line. The Pro Line Advanced costs €98,770, the Pro Line S €97,310 and the Pro Line S Competition €109,860. You can order from next Thursday, April 25, and the plug-in Q7s are expected in the Netherlands in June.

Update 15:10:

Audi has also announced that the updated Audi Q8 will also be available with these powertrains. Until now it was only available as SQ8, but that is about to change. The Q8 with plug travels fully electric, just one kilometer less far than the Q7. For the Q8, prices start at €102,460 for the 55 TFSI e quattro Pro Line, the Pro Line Advanced costs at least €109,840, the Pro Line S €110,231 and the Pro Line S Competition €122,610. Overall, the Q8 as a plug-in is at least ten grand more expensive than the Q7.
