Audi announces what the most powerful R8 with rear-wheel drive should cost. Of course, the model is slightly cheaper than the regular R8 Performance.
For those who missed it: Audi recently presented the R8 V10 Performance RWD. That is the rear-wheel drive version of the top version of the R8, the Performance, although the R8 non-Performance has now disappeared from the price lists. With rear-wheel drive, the R8 delivers slightly less power than with quattro four-wheel drive, but of the 620 horsepower, 570 pieces remain.
The elimination of all-wheel drive and a bit of power is good news for the price. As a coupé, the R8 V10 Performance RWD is now the cheapest R8, although it still costs €237,378. A closed R8 V10 Performance quattro is listed for €291,113, so that makes a big difference. An R8 Spyder V10 Performance RWD costs at least €252,838. The quattro version of this car is listed for €306,573, so here too the difference is significant.
Incidentally, the R8 is no longer the only Audi that is available with rear-wheel drive, because since last year that also applies to the Q4. Well done Jan, that will help the (potential) R8 buyer.
