On thin ice
Audi will be well prepared for the coming winter sports season, because this is the Audi RS e-tron GT ‘Ice race edition’.
To be clear: the ‘ice’ in the name of this car obviously has nothing to do with Internal Combustion Engines. This fully electric e-tron GT obviously doesn’t have any of those, but it does wear ski goggles. At least that is what the purple accents around the ‘grille’ refer to according to Audi. The white paint is a hint at snow and ice and together the colors celebrate the fortieth anniversary of Audi Sport GmbH. This takes the form of a tribute to the GP Ice Race in Zell am See, which started in the 1950s and has been revived as a classic event for some time now.
This puts the Germans on thin ice, because ‘Audi Sport GmbH’ has only existed under that name since 2016. However, it originated from ‘quattro GmbH’, and that company has been around since 1983. The RS e-tron GT – always an RS – has ‘diamond silver’ accents on the inside, alternating with black leather and purple stitching. We don’t have any images of that, by the way. It is no longer a concept car, but a car of which 99 will actually be built and delivered.
