Good news for those who love the typical five-cylinder roll of the Audi RS3. The top version of the new A3 also has the 2.5-liter five-cylinder under the hood.
The new Audi A3 has now been introduced to the world as a Sportback and as a Limousine, but now the RS variants are still waiting. The RS3 Sportback and RS3 Limousine made the necessary test kilometers in recent months, only it was not yet completely clear whether the characteristic five-cylinder sound could be heard. A shot from behind the gates at the Nürburgring puts an end to the uncertainty. The impending European CO2 tax has not prevented Audi from using the 2.5 TFSI again for the RS3.
It is still guessing about the exact specifications of the new RS3, but now that the five-cylinder remains, it will be a bit easier to make an estimate. That engine delivers 400 hp in the outgoing RS3, it is expected that this will be taken a step further for the new one. The RS3 is already the Mercedes-AMG A45 with the current 400 hp already the boss, but the A45 S has 421 hp. It would therefore not be surprising if the RS3 now draws a similar amount of power from the five-burner. In terms of sound, the Audi wins anyway from the Mercedes equipped with a four-cylinder.
