Audi RS4 Avant now squeezes 470 hp from the 2.9 V6 but blows past the Netherlands

Audi is celebrating 25 years since it launched the first RS4 Avant. You should celebrate a birthday, but the party is not celebrated in the Netherlands. This special Audi RS4 Avant Edition 25 Years is racing past our country…

The Audi RS2 Avant, developed together with Porsche, was finally succeeded in 1999 by the first RS4 Avant ever. Audi introduced a refined version of the B5 generation of the A4 – the first – at the end of 1999 RennSport version of the A4 Avant, an upgraded powerhouse with a 2.7 V6 boosted to 381 hp and 440 Nm. Audi is celebrating the twenty-fifth anniversary of the RS4 Avant with a special version of the current model: the RS4 Avant Edition 25 Years.

The regular Audi RS4 Avant already squeezes 450 hp and 600 Nm from its 2.9 biturbo V6, but this party animal adds another 20 hp on top of that. The result: 470 hp and 600 Nm. The über-RS4 Avant shoots from a standstill to a speed of 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds, making it 0.4 seconds faster than the regular RS4. The top speed: 300 km/h. Ceramic brake company? Also included is an RS sports exhaust with matte black tailpipes. But there’s more. For example, Audi gives the RS4 Avant Edition 25 Years adjustable coil springs and the Quattro Sport differential. The camber at the front has also been adjusted and Audi has, among other things, rewritten the software of the automatic transmission. The latter should result in even shorter switching times. The special edition, limited to 250 pieces, is available – just like the RS4 Sport from 2001 – in the color Imola Yellow, but also in Nardo Gray in Mythos Black. More adjustments: the Edition 25 Years has 20-inch wheels around which Pirelli P Zero Corsa rubber is folded, although Audi also has semi-slicks called P Zero Rrofeo RS on the menu. Nice details: the interior upholstery is inspired by that of the aforementioned RS4 Sport and the digital instruments can be set with a white background, a nod to the speedometer of the RS2.

The Audi RS5 Sportback will also receive a special version. It is called Performance Edition and in that form it also produces 470 hp and 600 Nm. Unfortunately for those who already have their wallets at the ready: the Audi RS5 Avant Edition 25 Years and the extra-trained RS5 Sportback will not come to the Netherlands, the Dutch importer reports to AutoWeek.
