As an Apple Music subscriber you have access to millions of music numbers that you can stream infinitely for a fixed amount per month. You also have the choice to download the Apple Music Music in your iCloud music library.
By downloading music you can store it locally and also play when you are offline. After all, you always need an internet connection to stream. Fortunately, it is possible to automatically download all the new music that you add to your music library. Because of this you always have your newest music at hand.
Automatic downloading Apple Music Music
- Open ‘settings’
- Go to ‘Apps’
- Navigate to ‘music’
- Scroll down to ‘Downloads’
- Select the ‘Automatic Downloads’ option
You can also indicate whether the downloads should be downloaded in Dolby Atmos. Do you have iOS/iPados 26 or newer? Then you can also download pins (fixed music) automatically.
Note that this option only appears when you use iCloud music library. You can activate this via Settings â–¸ Music, then enable the ‘Synchronize Library’ option.
Download fixed music
From iOS 26 and iPados 26 you can pin music in your library. These are then automatically shown at the top of the page of your library. In this way you can immediately consult your favorite music, handy for playlists or new albums.
Download music manually
Of course you can also manually download an album or playlist. To do this, open the album or playlist in the music app and tap the download arrow to download it. This has the advantage that when you add new music to a playlist, it is also automatically downloaded.
Optimize storage
Of course it is always downloading new music disastrous for your storage space. That is why you can optimize the storage space for music. You do this via Settings â–¸ Apps â–¸ Music â–¸ Optimize storage.
