The number of plug-in hybrids on the price list has increased almost unnoticed, because the focus in the Netherlands is on fully electric. But something is happening in the meantime.

Already at the launch of the current generation 5 series in 2016, BMW introduced a plug-in hybrid. Not very strange, because of many other models in the range there was already a car with a combustion engine and a plug. In addition, a PHEV version of the previous 5 generation was also available in China. In this G30 generation, the 530e, as it was baptized, received the two liters from the 520i, so with 184 hp. Then, where you would normally find the torque converter, there is an electric motor, which delivers another 113 hp. They do not peak at the same time, bringing the total power to 252 hp. Not entirely coincidentally exactly the power of the 530i, which gets the same amount of horsepower from a 2.0-liter turbo engine.
