Average number of teaching hours remained the same

Every two years, the CBR examines the average cost of obtaining a car driver’s license and currently amounts to €3,060. That is more than €600 – and therefore about 25 percent – more than in 2021, while the average number of teaching hours required remained the same. That is what the CBR says.
Dutch people who get a driving license spend an average of €3,060 on it. The Central Bureau for Driving Skills calculated this on the basis of a questionnaire that was completed by 3,100 people who obtained their driving license this year. That €3,060 includes all costs involved in obtaining a driver’s license, so those for lessons and exams, but also those for a possible interim test. According to the CBR, the calculated average costs in 2021 were still more than €600 lower, while the number of lessons taken prior to passing remained the same. The increase in costs seems to be mainly caused by the fact that driving lessons became more expensive.
In 2021, the CBR still found an average lesson price of €47.17, where they use the fact that 80 percent of candidates pay between €45 and €61 per lesson hour in this year’s calculation. That fact means that the average person who passes the driving test spent a total of €2,300 on lessons. In addition, a theory exam costs an average of €100 (€41 exam costs times 2 to 3, the number of attempts required on average) and a practical exam about €500. For this you not only pay €125.75 exam costs, but also the lesson rate at your driving school – and that for every time you take the exam. The average person needs 1 to 2 attempts, the cbr communicates.
An average of €2,750 if you pass in one go
The CBR sets the other costs at €160 and is caused by, among other things, the application costs for the pink card itself, the required health declaration and any interim test. Do you pass both the practical and theory exam in one go and do you need the average number of lessons (43 hours) for that? Then you will pay a total of about €2,750 at an average hourly rate from your first lesson to the counter of the town hall or city office.
