iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS Golden Gate, watchOS 27 and tvOS 27 include several major changes, new options and capabilities. Perhaps the most important thing is the optimization of the software. View our overview of iOS 27 tips for all the possibilities for iPhone and iPad, and with our tips for macOS Golden Gate you can get the most out of your Mac.
In addition, the software updates mainly contain a lot of small changes that benefit daily use. This includes: better switching between WiFi and mobile data, automatically changing weak passwords in the background and adjusting the Liquid Glass effect for better readability. Below you will find the new part of even more minor changes in iOS 27 and other software version 27.
Hide Apple TV widget
Starting with iOS 27 and iPadOS 27, it’s very easy to hide the Apple TV media player from the Lock screen of your iPhone or iPad. Simply swipe the widget from right to left and tap Clear to hide it. If you want to get the media player back, you can access the Apple TV remote from Control Center.

Energy saving mode improved
iOS 27 contains major performance improvements under the hood that make the system faster and more efficient, including in power saving mode. The main technical improvement is a new CPU scheduler that handles background tasks better, especially on older iPhones. This scheduler ensures that the iPhone uses computing power more efficiently, so that older models such as the iPhone 11 from 2019 also benefit from the improvements. In addition, the energy saving mode (Low Power Mode) has been noticeably improved for both iPhone and iPad.
The Camera app opens up to 30 percent faster, and the camera system uses less power when taking photos in this mode. For the user, this means that essential functions are retained, even in energy saving mode. You can quickly take a photo without your device reacting slowly, while the battery life is significantly extended.
Landscape mode for more apps
iOS 27 now brings the ability to use a wider variety of Apple’s default apps in horizontal landscape mode on the iPhone. For the first time, you can use Music, Podcasts, Fitness, Health, Reminders, Home, Assignments, Apple Watch, Find My, Weather, Dictaphone app and the Apple TV Remote in landscape view.
While landscape mode isn’t an entirely new feature, as it was available in iOS 26 and earlier for some apps like Maps, Calendar, Files, Notes, and Mail, iOS 27 extends this support to many more applications.

Find My Apps merged on Apple Watch
Apple combines the separate apps Find People, Find Devices and Find Objects in watchOS 27 into one central Find My app, just like on iPhone and iPad. The app opens by default in the last used tab and lets you switch between People, Devices, Objects and Me via the icon at the top left. In each tab you can filter, sort by alphabet or distance, and immediately see where friends, devices or AirTags are located.
That makes the Watch version much more consistent and faster to use, especially for quick actions from your wrist. You can immediately start a route from the map, play a sound or zoom in on a specific person or object, which finally makes the app really feel like a full-fledged mini version of Find My.
