Apple plans to improve the battery with the iPhone 18 series. But unfortunately they won’t do that with all models.
Battery of the iPhone 18 gets even better (but only for this model)
The battery life of current iPhones is quite good. In fact, in a recent test from CNET, the iPhone 17 Pro Max has the best battery life of all smartphones. But still… it can always be a little better, right? Apple seems to be doing something about that this year. According to rumors, the iPhone 18 Pro Max will have a larger battery. Unfortunately, the rest of the iPhone 18 models will not receive this upgrade.
The current battery in the iPhone 17 Pro Max has a capacity of 4,832 mAh. There is also a version with only an e-SIM for sale (in the United States, among others). That version has a larger battery capacity of 5,088 mAh.
What will be the exact improvements to the battery of the iPhone 18 Pro Max? According to rumors, there will be two more variants. Models with a physical SIM card will have a capacity of approximately 5000 mAh. The version with only e-SIM would even go towards 5200 mAh.
Of course this is not a huge improvement. But the iPhone 18 Pro Max also gets a new chip and a new modem, both of which are probably more economical. Together with the software updates, this could provide a nice boost.
This iPhone gets an even better battery
Yet we have to be honest, because there will probably be another new iPhone with an even better battery. This will be the iPhone Fold and the foldable iPhone most resembles two iPhone Airs that are stuck together.
According to rumors, Apple will also give the iPhone Fold a large battery. The battery even seems to be larger than 5500 mAh. That is necessary, because the iPhone Fold has two screens that it must supply with power. So it remains to be seen how good (or not) the battery life will be.
