Beijing auto show postponed to coronavirus

The organization of the Beijing Auto Show has announced that the auto show will be postponed. You guessed it: the corona virus plays a role here.

The Beijing International Automotive Exhibition, also known as the Beijing Auto Show or Auto China, was to be held this year in two locations of the China International Exhibition Center (CIEC) in Beijing from 21 to 30 April. The car trade fair organization reports on its website that the trade fair is being postponed to “[…] to be able to guarantee the health and safety of the exhibitors and visitors. “The postponement of the exhibition to a later date is related to the risks of the corona virus.

According to the German Automobilwoche, among others, non-Chinese exhibitors are not allowed to ship cargo to China. The Beijing Auto Show, which took place for the first time in 1990, has become a car show with international relevance. The show, which takes place every other year, was in 2018 the stage on which Mercedes-Maybach presented the Ultimate Luxury SUV Concept. Maserati intends to present a hybrid version of the Ghibli in Beijing this year.

Last week it was announced that the organization of the Geneva Motor Show is taking precautions regarding the corona virus. Earlier, the Mobile World Congress, a telecom fair that was to open its doors on February 24 in Barcelona, Spain, was canceled.
