Bentley Continental GT as Pikes Peak racer

Bentley has presented a very fierce variant of its Continental GT. The specimen you see in these photos will soon be chasing Pikes Peak. Bentley is now revealing more about its Pikes Peak racer, which also likes biofuel.

Bentley offers the Continental GT in various flavors. The brand supplies both the Coupé and the Convertible with a 550 hp biturbo 4.0 V8 and with a 635 hp and 900 Nm strong 6.0 W12. Recently, the two are also available as Speed with a 659 hp version of that twelve-cylinder as the beating heart. None of the already existing Contis is as fierce as this Continental GT3 Pikes Peak.

It is a technically modified version of the GT3 racing version of Bentley’s coupĂ©, which normally has a V8 in its nose. The Pikes Peak version will be raced up the mountain on June 27 as part of the annual Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, a renowned hill climb with various race classes. The Continental GT3 Pikes Peak enters the Time Attack 1 class, for custom production model based crack noses. Bentley, of course, hopes to break the record held by Porsche. That brand managed to complete the 20 kilometer long and 156 bend hill climb with a prepared 911 GT2 RS Clubsport in 9:36;559.

Rhys Millen, who comes from New Zealand, is behind the wheel, who will manage a special GT3. The Pikes Peak racer is packed with spoiler work that is even more exuberant than that of the regular GT3 variant of the Continental GT. But there’s more. The biturbo 4.0 V8 does not deliver 550 hp in the Pikes Peak racer, but an impressive 761 hp and 1,000 Nm. The modified eight-cylinder also runs on biofuel. Bentley also assembles modified pistons and connecting rods, increases the turbo pressure and gives the racingconti a special exhaust manifold from Akrapovic. Finally, the cooling system, suspension and braking differ from the regular GT3.
