Larger battery from now on for all Bentayga Hybrids

Combining a full-size, super-luxury SUV with a sustainability theme may seem insane, but Bentley does it. The result is the Bentley Bentayga Odyssean Edition.
The starting point for the ‘extra durable’ Bentley Bentayga is – how could it be otherwise – the plug-in hybrid version of the SUV mastodon. In the Odyssean Edition, which the brand previously made of the Flying Spur Hybrid, Bentley spoons its blown V6 coupled to an electric motor. That powertrain is good for 462 hp, with which the SUV can accelerate to 100 km/h in 5.3 seconds. Those specifications come from the Bentayga Hybrid S and Azure. Its upgraded battery pack and electric motor are now available not only in the Odyssean Edition, but in all variants of the plug-in SUV.
That’s good news for the slow decision-makers among us, because Bentley only makes 70 copies of the Odyssean Edition. The limited version is available to order from now on. If you go for it, Bentley recommends one of the six paint colors according to the brand that match the theme well. If that doesn’t work for you, the entire color palette – which counts more than 60 different ones – is also available. Furthermore, the Odyssean Edition distinguishes itself from the outside with accents in a copper-like color, which you will also find on the 22-inch measuring wheels.
Hawaiian wood
What really matters with the Bentley Bentayga Odyssean Edition is the interior. For this, the brand combines blue, beige and brown tones. The ‘natural’ leather is durable thanks to its long life, parts of the door trim, among others, are made of blue-dyed tweed from British wool. For the decoration of the dashboard, Bentley sought the materials further from home: the wood on the dashboard comes from so-called koa trees. While that’s pretty high-quality wood, the trees needed for it only grow in Hawaii – speaking of sustainability.
The Odyssean Edition, which also includes the Front Seat Comfort and Touring package as standard, should therefore primarily symbolize the sustainable intentions of the British brand. After all, large luxury cars in themselves are – certainly at the moment – not really a good starting point for sustainability. That should be different at Bentley in the future. From 2025, all its models with an electrified powertrain will be available and the brand will also have a fully electric car in its range.
