Renewal round for Opel Corsa

Biggest sales stunner Opel gets facelift

Not the Astra, but the Corsa is currently Opel’s absolute top seller. The current model was presented in 2019 and will receive a facelift in the foreseeable future. The renewed Opel Corsa has now appeared in public for the first time in a test suit.

Last year, Opel sold more than 180,000 units of the Corsa in Europe, making it by far the best-selling model of the brand. Opel is also doing good business with the Corsa in the Netherlands. Since the disappearance of the Karl, the Opel Corsa has also been the most popular car of the brand in the Netherlands. In 2020, almost 8,500 copies were sold and although there were just under 6,000 units in 2021, the Corsa was also at the top of Opel’s sales list. Also in the first ten months of this year, the Corsa takes the lead in the Opel statistics. The current generation of Opel Corsa was presented in 2019 and is now about three years old. Given the success of the model, it is not surprising that Opel hopes to keep the model up to date through a facelift. The renewed Corsa has now been caught with camouflage stickers for the first time.

Opel Grandland

The facelifted Opel Grandland clearly shows where the old headlight was.

The new Opel Corsa can be seen on two photos. Unfortunately, the back of the packed test model is not visible, although it is clear that things will change at the front of the Corsa. It seems that the Opel Corsa is getting a completely new front, complete with ‘Vizor’ muzzle as you know it from cars like the Astra and the facelifted Crossland and Grandland. The Corsa gets new headlights that are more in line with those of its sister models mentioned, although it remains to be seen whether Opel integrates these new light units more elegantly in the front than with the Grandland in which they only partially fill the place of the old headlights. The ‘space’ left over by the arrival of the smaller, flatter headlights was filled with a black piece of plastic in the Grandland.

Electric Opel Corsa-e

No doubt Opel is also making changes to the rear of the Corsa, although we expect them to be a lot milder than those at the front. You can also count on the arrival of an interior that has been updated in detail. The electric Opel Corsa-e probably benefits from the renewed powertrain that Peugeot recently installed in the improved version of its technical brother of the Corsa: the e-208. That would mean that the Corsa-e will also have a slightly larger battery and a 156 hp instead of 136 hp electric motor. Count on a range of about 400 kilometers.
