#2 may be successor ForTwo

At 4.27 meters in length, the Smart #1 is by far the largest Smart ever. But there is a larger model in the pipeline: it is called #3 and will come to Europe in 2024 and therefore probably also to the Netherlands. Smart also has a new model on the other side of the size spectrum.
Gone are the days when a Smart was always an extremely compact city car. With the 4.27 meter long Smart #1, the brand has an electric crossover that is not only considerably longer than the 3.5 meter long last Forfour, but even its larger predecessor (3.75 meters) with more than half a meter exceeds in length. Smart Europe CEO Dirk Adelmann tells Automotive News that a new Smart model will make its public debut in China on April 17: the Smart #3. That Smart #3 is larger than the #1, according to the CEO, will come to Europe at the beginning of 2024.

AutoWeek you could already serve the Smart #3 digitally last year.
Although it will be about a year before you see the Smart #3 on the road, AutoWeek was able to show you the car in November last year. Then we found in the database of the Chinese Ministry of Transport and Information Technology not only the first photos of the Smart #3, but also the first technical data of that car. The Smart #3 will be 4.4 meters long, 1.83 meters wide and 1.56 meters high. The electric Smart gets a steeper sloping roofline than the #1. It will be available with a 272 hp electric motor on the rear axle and there will also be a version that has a second electric motor of 156 hp on the front axle in addition to that electric motor. The Smart #3 shares its SEA platform with the #1. That basis will also be used by Volvo for its new small electric crossover: the EX30.
Smart #2
According to CEO Dirk Adelmann, Smart also has model name #2 on the shelf. Smart wants to apply that name to a smaller electric model that will function as the successor to the current generation ForTwo. In 2024, Smart will stop producing the ForTwo, which is now only available with an electric powertrain. If the Smart #2 actually becomes a small model, the Smart model range will not become any clearer in terms of naming. After all, the #1 is larger and positioned higher than the smaller #2 that will act as a slip-on.
