Elon Musk has offered an amount of nearly 100 billion dollars for OpenAI, the company behind text generator Chatgpt.
Elon Musk wants to buy OpenAi
The precise offer is no less than $ 97.4 billion. According to Marc Toberoff, the lawyer of Musk, the bid has been submitted to the board of directors of Openi. Sam Altman from OpenAi responded on social media with the words: “No, thanks.” He added that he wants to buy Twitter (nowadays X) for $ 9.74 billion, ten percent of Musk’s bid. Musk bought Twitter in 2022 for $ 44 billion. Musk responded to that post with the words: “scammer.”
Altman founded OpenAi together with Musk in 2015, after which Musk left the organization in 2019. They are now both involved in a lawsuit about the future of the company. Altman wants to transform OpenAi into a profitable company, but Musk does not agree with that. According to him, agreements from the past are being violated, which were then contractually laid down. Musk wants OpenAi to remain a non-profit organization.

Musk wants to surpass every competitive offer
Musk’s offer is supported by Xai And various investment firms. Ari Emanuel, CEO of Entertainmentbedrijf Endeab, has also joined the group through his investment fund. Toberoff told the Wall Street Journal that Musk is willing to match or even surpass every bid for OpenAi.
OpenAi has maintained that the restructuring is essential for the continued existence of the company. If the non-profit structure remains as it is, the company would not be able to keep up with the very competitive world of AI innovation. OpenAi says it is planning to complete the restructuring before 2026.
Although Musk is a narrow ally of Donald Trump, Altman also met the president and attended his inauguration. Trump has appointed OpenAi to be part of a group of AI companies working on a deal of 500 billion dollars, called Stargate. Xai van Musk is not part of this deal.
