Cookies are small files that keep track of personal preferences for a website. Most are harmless, but some are more persistent. This is everything you need to know about how to delete cookies on your iPhone or iPad.
Delete cookies on iPhone and iPad
Cookies. You’ve probably heard of it. Simply put, cookies save your personal preferences for certain web pages. That way you don’t have to log in to your account every time. Certain settings are also remembered. Most cookies are therefore harmless.
However, there are also more persistent cookies that, for example, register your personal surfing behavior. If this does not suit you, it is fortunately quite simple to remove them. How to delete cookies on iOS 13 and iPadOS:
- Grab your iPhone or iPad and go to the Settings app;
- Tap Safari, scroll down and choose Clear History and Website Data;
- Confirm your choice and wait a while until the data is deleted.

The currently stored cookies have now been deleted. All websites you visited have also been deleted. Do you also want to silence future cookies? Then go to the Safari screen (step two) and look for the button ‘Block all cookies’. Confirm your choice. Slide the switch so that the box turns green.
Delete cookies individually
With the above method you delete all cookies and website data. This can be annoying when you have to enter all websites completely in the url bar every time. In some cases it is therefore more convenient to delete cookies individually. That’s how you do that:
- Go to the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad;
- Tap on ‘Safari’, scroll down and select ‘Advanced’;
- Choose ‘Website data’. A list of previously visited websites is now loaded;
- Press ‘Edit’ at the top right to delete data from a specific website.
