BMW announces CE 02 eParkourer

Two years after the launch of the new CE 04, the hipster electric scooter that should quickly make the failed C Evolution forget, BMW has launched a second ‘e-vehicle’ for urban areas: the CE 02.

BMW announces CE 02 eParkourer

“A dynamic companion for a new form of smart urban mobility where driving pleasure is key”, according to BMW, that is the new CE 02 in a nutshell, “thanks to its fully electric drive, trendsetting design and innovative solutions.”

BMW thinks and hopes that the new CE 02 will be a new way to get to know BMW Motorrad, that the hipster electric motorcycle will be seen as a breath of fresh air for two-wheeled electric urban mobility that will particularly appeal to young people.

Remarkably, BMW Motorrad emphasizes that the CE 02 is not an e-motorcycle or e-scooter, but a so-called eParkourer, made for the city or an urban environment. That’s a nice invention, but of course it is and remains an electric two-wheeler – a very ugly one if you ask us.

The new CE 02, whose market launch is planned for spring 2024, will be available in various variants. For example, you can choose from a variant with a system power of 4 kW – nominal 3.2 kW – with a limited top speed of 45 km/h, which is suitable for the AM driver’s license.

In addition, there will be a variant with a maximum power of 11 kW (15 hp), for which you will simply need a motorcycle license. The 11 kW version has a top speed of 95 km/h and a claimed range of ‘more than 90 kilometers’.

The CE 02 has a seat height of 750 mm and a weight of 132 kilos for the 11 kW version and 119 kilos for the 4 KW version. That difference in weight is in the battery, the 4 kW version has a 1.96 kWh 48V battery, the 11 kW version has 3.92 kWh.

Charging is standard with an external charger with a charging capacity of 0.9 kW, which makes charging via a standard socket quick and easy. A fast charger with a charging capacity of 1.5 kW is optionally available in the HIGHLINE equipment and as an original BMW Motorrad accessory (11 kW version only).

You will have to be patient, with the 11 kW version charging 0-100% takes 5 hours and 12 minutes with the 0.9 kW charger, while with the 1.5 kW fast charger it still takes 1 hour and 42 minutes to charge the battery from 20-80%.

The CE 02 has the two driving modes ‘Flow’ and ‘Surf’ as standard. Driving mode ‘Flow’ offers the optimal set-up for comfortable cruising in city traffic, while ‘Surf’ results in a dynamic driving experience outside of busy city traffic.

The optional “Flash” driving mode is a sporty and dynamic addition as part of the HIGHLINE optional equipment and as an Original BMW Motorrad accessory.
