BMW is working on the price list: 4-series xDrive, 430d convertible and many small news

BMW will use the (hopefully) upcoming summer of 2021 to tinker with its offer. Much of the range has had minor changes, but the arrival of three new versions for the 4 Series is the biggest news.

The biggest news, however, concerns the new 4-series, which until the arrival of the Gran Coupé is only available as a Coupé and as a Cabrio. BMW promises a number of fresh variants for this model from July. The coupé will be available as 420i xDrive and 430i xDrive, four-cylinder petrol models with all-wheel drive.

The fast M440i will be available for the first time without four-wheel drive, where this car was equipped with xDrive as standard until now. With rear-wheel drive, the car needs 4.8 seconds to sprint from 0 to 100, 0.3 more than the xDrive variant. On the other hand, however, the car is lighter and should have a somewhat purer driving behavior.

The open version of the 4-series is also available as a 430d, with which the 286 hp six-cylinder diesel from the coupé is now also spooned into the Cabrio. This type does not seem very relevant for the Netherlands, but BMW may decide to carry it here anyway. After all, the 420d convertible and the 430d coupé are also available here, so why not.

New body colors appear for both the coupé and the convertible. The range is expanded with Aventurin Red and Brooklyn Gray. There are also new upholstery types and that also applies to the 3-series, in both sedan and Touring form.

Colors and driver aids

Even smaller news comes in the form of new colors and a new storage package for the 1 Series and its sedan brother 2 Series Gran Coupe. BMW is still working on its driver aids and the climate control system for the 5- and 6-series, but that shouldn’t really have a name.

Fun thing is that the plug-in hybrids of the brand are becoming more recognizable. Munich mentions an ‘Electrified by i’ mark on the tailgate and a BMW logo with a ‘BMW i-surround’, which undoubtedly signifies the arrival of a blue piping.

Finally, fun is the arrival of durable, FSC-labeled tires for the X5 xDrive45e plug-in hybrid. The optional Pirelli rubber is constructed from extra durable materials and is available ex-factory, a first in the automotive world, according to BMW.
