Twice the thickest
Less than a week ago, BMW announced the arrival of a second mild-hybrid diesel engine for the facelifted X5 and X6. AutoWeek can already tell you what the new BMW X5 xDrive40d and X6 xDrive40d should cost. But there’s more!
The BMW X5 and X6, facelifted earlier this year, were already available with various powertrains. For example, the X5 could already be ordered as a plug-in hybrid xDrive50e and both the X5 and X6 were already on the price list as xDrive40i, M60i and xDrive30d. That mild-hybrid xDrive30d now gets a more powerful alternative: the xDrive40d. AutoWeek has the prices of the BMW X5 and X6 with that more powerful mild-hybrid diesel engine.
Like the xDrive30d, the xDrive40d is a 3.0 six-in-line diesel engine with mild hybrid technology. The six-cylinder delivers 340 hp and 700 Nm as xDrive40d and is therefore considerably stronger than the 286 hp and 650 Nm powerful xDrive30d. The mild hybrid part is able to support the diesel engine with 11 hp. The BMW X5 xDrive40d costs €123,709, the X6 xDrive40d changes hands from €129,759.
BMW X5 and X6 M Competition
No need for a more powerful diesel, but you do need an extraordinarily powerful petrol engine? Even then we have news. AutoWeek has also won the prizes of the new X5 and X6 M Competition.
The updated X5 and X6 are available, in addition to the 530 hp and 750 Nm strong M60i, also as the hard-hitting M Competition. With 626 hp and 750 Nm, they are just as powerful as before the facelift. Power again comes from a 4.4 V8. The BMW X5 M Competition costs €224,302 in the Netherlands. For the X6 M Competition you will have to pay at least €228,283.
