Less expensive per Nm

BMW has presented the superlative of the naturally fierce XM in various respects. Meet the BMW XM Label Red, a whopping 748 hp extra potent variant of the first ‘M-SUV’ ever.
BMW added the XM to its portfolio in September last year. The BMW XM is an eccentrically designed SUV that, according to its creators, was basically developed as an M model. The BMW XM was presented as a plug-in hybrid with a system power of 653 hp and 800 Nm. Now there is a variant that goes well beyond that. This is the BMW XM Label Red.
BMW XM Label Red
The fact that the BMW XM Label Red would come was already known at the introduction of the XM, which should not be confused with the Citroen of the same name. BMW immediately announced the arrival of a 748 hp Label Red version, but kept extensive specifications and extensive images under wraps. In the XM Label Red, the 4.4 V8 with two turbos is 585 hp instead of 489 hp. The electric motor housed in the eight-speed M Steptronic gearbox is also good for 197 hp in the Label Red. It provides the BMW XM with a system power of 748 hp and no less than 1,000 Nm, 95 hp and 200 Nm more than the ‘regular’ XM. It makes the BMW XM Label Red the strongest M model ever.
With that 748 hp, the BMW XM Label Red stamps in 3.8 seconds to a speed of 100 km / h. Its top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h, but can be increased to 290 km/h with the optional M Driver’s Pack. The 25.7 kWh battery pack is good for an electric range of up to 83 kilometers. Up to a speed of 140 km/h you can drive electrically. In the 4WD Sport driving mode, the emphasis of the M xDrive all-wheel drive is on the rear axle. You can recognize the Label Red from the outside by the Toronto Red colored details, although these red accents are also available in black.
BMW asks more than €175,000 in the Netherlands for the ‘normal’ XM and the Label Red of course exceeds that. The BMW XM Red Label has a price of €203,700 in the Netherlands. So you lose €272.33 per horsepower. Let’s do the same calculation on the regular XM, then you have lost €268.24 per horsepower. Per Nm you pay €218.95 for non-Label Red, for the Label Red €203.7. The Label Red is therefore ‘cheaper’ per Nm, but it is never cheap. You do get the Adaptive M Chassis Professional with electronically controlled dampers, Actice Roll Comfort and Integral Active Steering as standard.
Fun fact: according to BMW, with the Label Red it meets the “[…] wishes of customers who love an extroverted lifestyle and desire ultimate performance from a car that goes outside the box.” The XM Label Red can be found in the Netherlands from October. BMW will also launch a special limited series of XM’s Label, limited to 500 pieces Red painted in BMW Individual Frozen Carbon Black.
