Buick Envision Plus: Envision with a curvier

Buick has stretched the China-produced Envision. The longer Envision is called Envision Plus and not only has a longer body than the original, but also a larger wheelbase.

Buick introduced the new Envision to the world in mid-last year, a 4.66-meter long SUV produced by the SAIC-GM joint venture in China but also delivered in the United States. That Envision, a competitor of cars like the Nissan Murano, will have a bigger brother: the Envision Plus.

With a length of 4.85 meters, the Envision Plus is 19 centimeters longer than the regular Envision and with its wheelbase of 2.83 meters it also has almost 5.5 centimeters extra between the front and rear axle. Those extra centimeters make the arrival of a third row of seats possible. The Buick Envision Plus is therefore a seven-seater. The front of the longer Envision is identical to that of its smaller brother, but not the rear. Not only does the Buick Envision Plus have its own tail lights that are connected with a chrome strip, the complete tailgate and rear bumper are also specific to the Envision Plus.

The Envision Plus will be available in China with a blown 2.0, a four-cylinder from the Ecotec engine family paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. The 237 hp and 350 Nm strong 2.0 is linked to a 48 volt mild hybrid system. In China, the Envision Plus is sold alongside the Envision S. The Envision S is the car simply called Envision in the United States. In addition to the Envision S, Buick in China sells the previous generation Envision simply as Envision. For the time being, Buick only shows a luxuriously executed and richly decorated with chrome-plated Avenir version. That Envision Plus Avenir is, among other things, on 20-inch light metal and has matrix LED headlights. The Buick Envision Plus is of course not coming to Europe.
