Not very interesting for Europe, but perhaps interesting car news for the enthusiast. Buick has presented the Verano Pro on the Shanghai exhibition floor. After various facelifts, it is now a completely new generation.
The Verano is a Buick model that we of course do not know in Europe, although a variant of the car is definitely for sale here. The second-generation Verano, presented in 2015, consisted of a four-door sedan and a five-door hatchback. That hatchback version was in fact our Opel Astra. Buick made a facelift to the previous Verano in 2018 and presented a refreshed Verano for the second time at the end of 2019, which the brand simply referred to as the new generation. In Shanghai, Buick is now presenting the Verano Pro to the Chinese consumer. This time it is actually a completely new model, which for the time being is only on the market as a sedan.
Although the Verano Pro is on a new platform, the design is clearly based on that of its predecessor. The Verano Pro has wide, flat headlights with a fairly subtle grille in between with a hefty Buick logo. On either side of the logo are two chrome-colored strips that connect optically to the headlights. The fairly modest sedan, like its predecessor, has a rising window line and three folds on the side. More of the same, but completely different. The interior is also completely new, although Buick only shows the part it is apparently most proud of. Behind the steering wheel of the Verano Pro is a wide panel that houses two 10.25-inch screens. The left one naturally functions as a set of instruments, the right one is linked to the infotainment system.
Buick Verano
The Verano Pro immediately receives a sporty GS variant. Under the hood is a blown 1.5, a four-cylinder of which Buick keeps the power under its cap. We do know that the petrol engine is linked to a CVT transmission. Buick does not mention exact dimensions yet. The outgoing Verano is 4.72 meters long and has a 2.7 meter wheelbase. We aim that the new Verano Pro has grown a few centimeters, both inside and out.
