Buy an iPhone in 2024
Apple has released four new iPhones in 2024! The iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max have been available in stores since September 20. Are you planning to buy a new iPhone? And are you still unsure which device to choose? In this buying advice we tell you which iPhone you should get in 2024! These are the options:
Overview
1. iPhone 16 (Plus)
The best choice in 2024 is the iPhone 16. Apple has equipped the phone with the action button, camera controller, powerful A18 chip and no less than 8 GB of RAM. With these specifications, the iPhone 16 has support for Apple Intelligence. In addition, you can take macro photos with the phone, while this was previously exclusive to the Pro models. The iPhone 16 has almost the same functions as the iPhone 15 Pro.
The differences between the iPhone 16 and the iPhone 16 Pro are also very small. For the iPhone 16 Pro, Apple has opted for a more powerful chip and the phone has more camera functions, but for many users the iPhone 16 is more than enough. Do you want a slightly larger screen? Then the iPhone 16 Plus has the same functions, but with a 6.7-inch display. You can get the iPhone 16 for €949, while the iPhone 16 Plus currently costs €1,099.
iPhone 16 (loose) | iPhone 16 (above) | iPhone 16 Plus (separate) | iPhone 16 Plus (subscription) | |
128GB | €949 | €50 | €1,099 | €55 |
256GB | €1,078.95 | €55 | €1,229 | €64.00 |
512GB | €1,329 | €75 | €1,479 | €75 |
2. iPhone 16 Pro (Max)
Don’t want to miss any functions? Then we recommend the iPhone 16 Pro or the iPhone 16 Pro Max in 2024. The Pro models run on the A18 Pro chip, which can handle multiple heavy tasks at the same time. For the iPhone 16 Pro (Max), Apple has opted for a housing with titanium edges, which gives the device better protection against falls. The screen of the iPhone 16 Pro (Max) is of higher quality than the display of the iPhone 16 (Plus), because the phone has ProMotion with always-on.
Other minor differences between the iPhone 16 (Plus) and the iPhone 16 Pro (Max) are a longer battery life, tetraprism lens and larger displays on the Pro models. In addition, the iPhone 16 Pro (Max) has a 48-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, making macro photos slightly sharper than with the regular models. Do you want the best of the best? Then the iPhone 16 Pro can be purchased for € 1,229, the iPhone 16 Pro Max costs € 1,479.

1 TB | €1,829 | €75 | €1,979 | No longer available |
3. iPhone 15 Pro (Max)
Do you think the iPhone 16 Pro or the iPhone 16 Pro Max is too expensive? Then the iPhone 15 Pro (Max) will still be a very good option in 2024. The phone runs on the A17 Pro chip and therefore has support for Apple Intelligence. Just like the iPhone 16 Pro (Max), the iPhone 15 Pro (Max) has an action button, where you decide which function you link to the button. Both the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max are charged via a USB-C port.
Apple has barely adjusted the titanium casing of the iPhones in 2024, making the iPhone 15 Pro (Max) look almost the same as the iPhone 16 Pro (Max). The big difference between the iPhone 16 Pro (Max) and the iPhone 15 Pro (Max) is the camera, the iPhone 15 Pro (Max) has to do without the camera controller and has a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens. Don’t you think that’s a problem? Then we recommend the iPhone 15 Pro (€ 978.50) or the iPhone 15 Pro Max (€ 1,230).

128GB | €978.50 | €53.00 | – | – |
256GB | €1,149 | €55.50 | €1,230 | €74.00 |
512GB | €1,341 | €72.50 | €1,460 | €62.50 |
1 TB | €1,449 | €75 | €1,542 | €62.50 |
4. Other recommendations
The iPhone 15 Pro is cheaper than the iPhone 16, but still has a hefty price tag at €978.50. If you still find the price too high, you can consider a refurbished iPhone in 2024. These are devices that have already been used, but with new parts. This way you can be sure that the phone works properly and you get a two-year warranty with your purchase.
- Refurbished iPhone 15 Pro: €847
- Refurbished iPhone 15 Pro Max: €965.50
- Refurbished iPhone 16: €935.50
- Refurbished iPhone 16 Plus: No longer available
- Refurbished iPhone 16 Pro: €1,734.99
- Refurbished iPhone 16 Pro Max: No longer available
The above devices all support Apple Intelligence, so you are prepared for the future. Are you looking for a cheaper phone and don’t you think all the AI functions are important? In that case, the iPhone 15 (Plus) is a good, cheaper option in 2024. The phone has a 48-megapixel main camera, Dynamic Island and USB-C port. You can now get the iPhone 15 for €776.99, while you pay €48 for the iPhone 15 Plus.

5. Cheapest iPhone: just wait a little longer
Are you looking for the cheapest iPhone? In 2024 you will pay the least for the iPhone SE 2022. You can get the phone for € 293.43. However, we recommend that you wait a little longer if you plan to buy the iPhone SE, because Apple will probably release the iPhone SE 4 in the spring. That is necessary, because the iPhone SE 2022 is now quite outdated.
The current iPhone SE still has a home button, a single 12-megapixel camera on the back and a 4.7-inch screen. Apple is making major changes to the iPhone SE 4, because the phone gets Face ID, support for Apple Intelligence and an improved camera. That makes it worth waiting a little longer before buying the iPhone SE, because Apple will release a better version in 2025.
Buy a new iPhone in 2024
The iPhone SE 2025 is expected to resemble the iPhone 14, which you can now get for €689. Our advice is to wait for the next iPhone SE, because you can probably buy it for less money early next year. The iPhone SE is probably Apple’s first product of 2025. We therefore advise against buying another iPhone SE in 2024, because the phone will be outdated in a few months.
You don’t have that problem with the iPhone 16 (Plus), iPhone 16 Pro (Max) or the iPhone 15 Pro (Max). These devices are still very good, have support for Apple Intelligence and will therefore last for years to come. From next year, all other iPhones will no longer work with the latest iOS functions, which will certainly be a loss. Are you going to buy a new iPhone in 2024? Then go for the iPhone 16 series or iPhone 15 Pro (Max), so you can be sure that you won’t have to get a new iPhone for a while.
