We compare the camera of Samsung’s newest flagship, the Galaxy S25 Ultra, with that of the iPhone 16 Pro Max. Which is better?
Galaxy S25 Ultra vs iPhone 16 Pro Max
Both the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra If the iPhone 16 Pro Max have excellent cameras on board with which you take beautiful photos. We put them side by side to see which of the two performs better.
Main camera
Both devices have multiple cameras for different purposes. The main camera is the one you probably use in practice the most. With the Galaxy S25 that is a 200 MP camera, with the iPhone 16 Pro Max a 48 MP camera. Nevertheless, the iPhone camera scores better when it comes to sharpness. Especially when you cut a photo, you can see that the Samsung always has some blur and not that of the iPhone. But if you have a sharp look, you also see it without cutting.

The main camera of the iPhone also generates a better depth of field. That means that the subject is depicted sharply and the background is out of focus. The Galaxy S25 Ultra depicts more from the entire scene sharply. What you like nicer is of course also a matter of taste. But the photos of the iPhone do give a more spatial impression. In addition, the colors of the iPhone photos are slightly warmer, livelier and more natural than those of the Samsung.

Ultra -Wood angle camera
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra has an ultra -wide corner camera of 50 MP, the iPhone 16 Pro Max has one of 48 MP. The photos of the Samsung now have richer colors and a more accurate exposure. The colors are clearly strengthened, but not at all unrealistic.
The exposure of the iPhone photos makes the foreground a bit too dark, so that some details fall away. Although the colors look realistic, the colors of the Samsung photos are more accurate. The Galaxy S25 brings it with the ultra -wide corner camera better than the iPhone 16 Pro Max.

Zoom camera
The Samsung has a 10 MP zoom camera, the Apple has one with 12 MP. Both devices have a 5x optical hem. If we use that 5x optical zoom, the white balance of the Galaxy S25 is ultra more accurate and the colors are more powerful.
If you reduce the photo, you also see more details and less noise at the S25 Ultra.
If you continue to (digitally), it appears that the photos of the Samsung are just a bit sharper than those of the iPhone. The difference is not big, but you see it when you cut the photos. Even if you use the 2x zoom on the iPhone and the 3x on the Galaxy S25 Ultra does not change much. In contrast to the main camera, the S25 Ultra now takes the sharpest photos. The Samsung therefore performs best with the zoom camera.

Night mode
The first thing that stands out if you want to take a photo with the Galaxy S25 Ultra with little light is that the preview on the screen is particularly dark. So dark that you think that no good photo can come out. But luckily this is not representative of the end result. The previews of the iPhone are exactly like the final photo.
In general, the photos in low light of the 16 Pro Max are warmer than those of the S25 Ultra. Both devices have difficulty in control noise formation. Furthermore, the Samsung and the Apple perform here at a similar level, both in terms of details and the preservation of the colors. Only minimal exposure differences are visible. The Galaxy and the iPhone perform well in the night mode.

Conclusion: Galaxy S25 Ultra vs iPhone 16 Pro Max
The iPhone 16 Pro Max wins when we compare the performance of the main cameras. If we look at the ultra -wide corner camera and the zoom camera, the Samsung Galaxy S25 will win. And the scores are the same in the night mode.
So on paper the Samsung wins with two against one. Nevertheless, we will appoint the iPhone 16 Pro Max as the winner. The reason for this is that the iPhone wins on the most important part: the main camera. In practice, almost everyone mainly uses the main camera, making it much heavier than the other two cameras. If you make much more use of the ultra -wide angle camera and the zoom camera, then you will of course interpret the rash differently.
