My laptop has 16GB of RAM or working memory. In the Task management I can see that I regularly use a lot of that working memory. I suspect that my laptop will be a lot faster if I add 16GB of RAM. Is that possible? Joost K.

It is quite possible that your laptop can survive with 16GB of extra RAM, but you had already thought of that yourself… But if you want to add 16GB of RAM, your laptop must of course have two (!) memory slots. So you will have to find that out first and for this you can use the specifications (of your brand and type of laptop) that you can find at any hardware webshop:

Working memory

First investigate how many memory slots you have. Reviewing specifications…

If you have one memory slot, you are still out of luck (but read on). If you have two memory slots, you move on to the next round. It Task management Can you tell us more about the currently installed RAM via Performance and Memory:

Installed RAM memory
The Task Manager also knows a thing or two about memory

And you need that information if you are going to buy an extra RAM module: preferably the same amount of memory and at least as fast.

Only 1 memory slot
Then we have that laptop with unfortunately only one memory slot… Go to the website www. Memory.nl and use the Memory scan which will tell you what is possible with your hardware. And perhaps you can replace that one 16GB RAM module with a 32GB module, for example. A 64GB module even? For today’s price you don’t have to leave that anymore…
