It is very annoying when you cannot send or receive WhatsApp messages. Read here what you can do and also how you know if you have been blocked by someone.

Almost every week, WhatsApp releases or announces new features, such as more secure voice messages and a secret code for chat lock. But there are also plenty of functions and tips that you may not know about yet, but that have been there for some time, such as finding unread messages. In this article you can read what to do if you cannot send or receive a WhatsApp message, the most common reason being a poor internet connection. Also read here how you can see if you have been blocked by someone.

Solutions if you can’t send or receive messages
If your device is connected to the internet but you’re still unable to send or receive messages via WhatsApp, here are some things you can try:

• Restart your device.

• Make sure you have completed the verification process for your phone number.

• Check that the phone number of the contact you are trying to send a message to via WhatsApp is stored correctly on your phone.

This is how you know if you have been blocked

It’s also possible that the contact you’re trying to send a message to has blocked your phone number. There are a number of ways you can recognize that you have been blocked:

1. You no longer see when a contact was last online in the chat window. More information.

2. You won’t see any updates to a contact’s profile photo.

3. Messages you send to a contact who has blocked you always have only one check mark (message sent) and never a second check mark (message delivered). You can see messages you exchanged before you were blocked, but you can’t send new messages.

4. You can’t call that contact.

If you encounter this with a contact, it may mean that that user is blocking you. However, there are also other possibilities. WhatsApp has deliberately kept this vague to protect your privacy when you block someone. So they cannot tell you whether someone is blocking you.
