Caterham Cars bought by Japanese VT Holdings

Caterham Cars is under new ownership. The English manufacturer of the Lotus Seven-based fun machines has been bought by the Japanese VT Holdings. That is no stranger to Caterham.

The Japanese VT Holdings is the new owner of Caterham Cars. The Japanese have bought the British firm for an unspecified amount from Tony Fernandes and Kamarudin Meranun.

VT Holdings and Caterham know each other quite well. Since 2009, VT Holdings has been the official Japanese importer of the Caterham Seven, although the company also puts Lotuses on the boat to Japan. VT Holdings owns a total of 200 car dealers in Japan and indicates that it is continuing to develop the Caterham Seven, which comes in various versions. Graham MacDonald will remain as CEO of Caterham Cars. The CEO says that the appointment of VT Holdings as owner heralds a new chapter for the brand.
