Twitter is taken over by billionaire Elon Musk. Musk promises a number of changes for the social network and the platform is also working on new features. The most important changes can be found here.
1. Some Twitter users have to pay
Elon Musk has of course announced via Twitter that commercial and political users will have to pay a small amount in the future to use the platform. He adds that Twitter will always be free for normal users.
2. Edit tweets with the edit button
The existence of Twitter’s edit button was previously reported via well-known researcher Jane Manchun Wong. Wong now also shares screenshots of the feature, which you can see below. To edit a tweet, press the “Edit Tweet” button in the top right menu of a tweet. You will then be taken to a window with the original tweet. You can change it, delete it, whatever you want. So the edit button isn’t just for typos. It looks like you have 30 minutes to edit a tweet.
3. Twitter Circle
Twitter Circle is a completely new feature already on the support pages of Twitter is mentioned. You can compare the function with Instagram’s Good Friends and the circles on Google+. You can add a selection of friends to a Twitter Circle. According to Twitter, Twitter Circle is “a way to send tweets to selected people and share your thoughts with a smaller audience.” You choose who is in your Twitter Circle, and only the people you’ve added can comment on and respond to the tweets you share in the circle.
Twitter Circle is very similar to the recently announced one Twitter Communities† With Twitter Communities, people with similar interests can discuss with each other in separate groups. Still, the new feature is different, according to Twitter: “Twitter Communities provide a special place for people to connect, share and get closer to the discussions they care about most with everyone on Twitter. Twitter Circle is for sharing the tweets that you only want to share with the people you choose to see them.”
Twitter Circle is currently available to a limited number of Twitter users. If Twitter Circle is available to you, you’ll see the option to create a Circle when you compose a new tweet.
