Shooting Mustang Mach-E
Chevrolet has presented a brand new electric SUV in its home country. This is the Chevrolet Blazer EV, a direct competitor to the Ford Mustang Mach-E that can go up to 515 kilometers on a full battery pack.
The Blazer EV is a new electric SUV that, apart from its well-known name, shares nothing with the Blazer that received a facelift in the United States earlier this year. Chevrolet does not yet share exact dimensions and extensive technical specifications of its electric SUV, but it is clear that the brand wants to respond to cars such as the Ford Mustang Mach-E in its home country.
Super Sports
In the United States, the Blazer is available in four versions, of which the historically justified SS (Super Sport) is the absolute top version. That Chevrolet Blazer SS is 565 hp and 879 Nm strong and has a so-called Wide Open Watts (WOW, yes) mode in which the SUV reaches a speed of 60 mph (97 km/h) in less than 4 seconds. The WOW mode should therefore be seen as a kind of launch control. This SS version comes up to about 470 kilometers away on a full charge, although it is not known how large the battery pack is. Semi-autonomous braking technology has the Blazer SS in the form of Super Cruise. This top version stands on 22-inch light metal, has Brembo brakes and can be recognized by its own grille, a black roof and modified bumpers.
Chevrolet will also supply the Blazer in versions that should be able to travel around 400 and even 515 kilometers. The basic version is always front-wheel drive, above that comes a version that is available with both four-wheel drive and front-wheel drive. The RS variant is available with rear, front or four-wheel drive and the top version SS always has four-wheel drive.
All versions can fast charge up to 190 kW and get a 17.7-inch large infotainment screen and an 11-inch measuring digital instrumentation. With a little imagination, the round ventilation grilles are reminiscent of the copies that Mercedes-Benz uses in its models, although the interior of the Chevrolet Blazer EV looks sufficiently unique.
Chevrolet has even more new electric models in the pipeline. For example, it comes with an electrical equivalent of the for Chevrolet unspeakably important Silverado and with the Equinox EV, a second electric SUV. The starting price is converted around €47,000. The Blazer EV is not coming to Europe for the time being.
