Chicago Auto Show takes place in July

We are entering a phase of the pandemic in which not everything is by definition canceled, and that is also good news for the car industry. For example, the organization of the Chicago Auto Show announces that it can still hold a fair in July.

Since the beginning of last year, it has rained cancellations of car shows. Since then, not only has there been little or nothing new to admire in real life worldwide, but the brands are also looking for their own moment to present new cars. A nice week with a ‘bomb of news’ is just not there. In July, however, we can expect a lot again in a short time from Chicago, because the car fair there normally held in February will still take place there.

The organization reports that the fair is largely kept in the open air, which would reduce the risk of contamination. From July 15 to July 19, visitors can visit in different time slots. According to the organization, car manufacturers are responding enthusiastically and that promises that some news from Chicago can be expected.

Normally Chicago is not very relevant for the Dutch market, but it is still interesting to keep an eye on. In addition to purely American news, sometimes something comes along that tells us a bit more. In recent years, a sporty version of the Volkswagen Jetta, a facelift for the American Fiat 500 and a round of renewal for the Hyundai Elantra, ahead of ‘our’ i30, have been introduced. The show is not as big as the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, but since it will only take place in an alternative format this year and only in September, Chicago may become a bit more relevant.
