‘Forget everything you know about EVs’
Citroën shows the first parts of the new Citroën ë-C3. Moreover, we now know when the car will be unveiled: October 17, or next Tuesday!
“Forget everything you know about electric cars,” says Citroën the nice and vague teaser video from which we cut the above images. Let me think, what exactly do we know about electric cars? That nowadays they are often very good, and very usable, and charge quickly, and have a serious range? That is undoubtedly not what Citroën wants us to forget. No, we think they are referring to that other feature of many electric cars: the high price. Citroën previously made it clear that the ë-C3 will distinguish itself in that respect. The new, electric Citroën will cost less than 25,000 euros, the promise is, and that has never been seen before in EV land, except for the Dacia Spring.
Make no mistake: this is not the Citroën ë-C3 that was previously shown in India. The European version will at least have a very different body, and this is confirmed by the teaser images. We see the new Citroën logo, which appears for the first time on a production model with the ë-C3. We also get to see the headlights and taillights very briefly. These appear to be very similar to those of the Oli study model from 2022, a car from which the ë-C3 should borrow more elements. There is little point in speculating further, because in a few days we should know everything about this new, compact and, above all, affordable EV.
