Signal is becoming increasingly popular in the Netherlands, so we show you how to switch quickly and easily from WhatsApp.
Comfortable switch from WhatsApp to Signal
Meta has made itself less and less popular lately, with the result that more and more people want nothing more to do with the company. That means that they no longer use the apps Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp and therefore switch to Signal. In contrast to WhatsApp, Signal Privacy is central. That is the main reason that the employ has become so popular. Reason enough to show you how you switch comfortably!
1. Download Signal
To start with, you have to download Signal from the App Store. We will first set Signal and only when everything works whatsapp removes. In this way, switching is the most comfortable.
2. Set the app
If the app is on your iPhone, then you have to set things up. Open the Signal app and follow the steps that appear. This way it is useful to give access to your contacts, so that you immediately see who uses more Signal. Signal cannot see your contacts, even if you give access. That is different at WhatsApp …
Signal also needs access to your camera and microphone, because otherwise video calls will not be possible. Signal also requires your telephone number to send a verification code there. Finally, enter a pin code to secure Signal.
3. Transfer WhatsApp groups
There is a handy way to transfer WhatsApp groups to Signal. To begin with, make a new group in Signal (tap down on ‘new group’). Then tap ‘Skip’ at the top right. Then give the group the name of the WhatsApp group that you want to transfer.
When you have created the group, you have the option to create a group link. To do this, tap and share group link. Then choose ‘Copy link’ or ‘Share via other app’ to share the link in WhatsApp with the ‘old’ group. When everyone from the old group has ticked the link, you have the same group in Signal.
Members of the old WhatsApp group that Signal do not yet use will of course have to create a Signal account and download the app when they tap the link.
Remove WhatsApp?
Now that your Signal has fully working, you can in principle remove WhatsApp. But in practice it is probably useful to wait a while. There is a good chance that not all your contacts are on Signal and may still send you messages via WhatsApp. It is therefore no problem to use both apps next to each other for the time being.
