Spring is coming, so Niantic hopes everyone will be back on Pokémon hunting armed with their Pokédex. This weekend, the developer is encouraging that with the Pokémon GO Grass Weekend.
Celebrate the Pokémon GO Grass Weekend
On the Pokémon GO website, Niantic announces that you can take advantage of the Pokémon GO Grass Weekend from this afternoon (May 5) until May 8. During this period, extra grass-type monsters will appear.
Good news if you miss some green in your Pokédex. The event is being tackled a lot bigger in the US than here. There, Niantic will host the first open-air event, where people can walk a specific route to find special Pokémon and items.
It is expected that such a large crowd will come here that streets will be blocked. Niantic partners with the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, which stands up for a good cause.
One year of Pokémon GO
Pokémon GO has been around for almost a year, although the enormous hype with which the game was launched has now diminished. Who knows that the spring and summer weather will bring about a revival in the number of players. You can count on getting more events like this in the coming months to encourage us to complete our Pokédex.
Earlier this week, a future feature for the game was discovered on Niantic’s website. There, attentive fans found a reference to promo codes that unlock specific Pokémon and items. It is not yet clear how these codes are used exactly. In addition, they seem to be exclusively for the Android version of the game for the time being. By partnering with a retail chain like Starbucks (which Niantic has done before), the developer has a new way to monetize the immense success of Pokémon GO.
