Do you want to use the internet outside your home? Easily connect to a Wi-Fi network on a Windows PC.
Why use Wi-Fi?
A lot of people use WiFi to surf the internet. They don’t have to deal with cables or they are outdoors and want to use someone else’s internet connection. In the latter case, pay attention to safety. To use the internet via WiFi, you do need a WiFi connection, and possibly the associated password.
Enable Wi-Fi in Windows 10
To enable Wi-Fi in Windows 10:
- Click the Internet connection icon at the bottom right:

. If necessary, first click on the white triangle to the left of the System Tray to make the Internet connection icon visible.
- A list of available Wi-Fi connections opens. Each connection contains the name and whether the connection is secured (with a password). Click on the WiFi connection you want to use the internet with.
- click on Make a connection.
- Have you been online on that connection before? Then you no longer need to enter a password. Are you making contact with a secure connection for the first time? Then type the password and click Next one.
- Click on Yes.
The connection is made. Would you like to find out later which Wi-Fi network the computer is connected to? Then click the Internet icon in the System Tray. At the top is the active connection.

- Click on the small arrow behind the WiFi icon. A list of available Wi-Fi connections opens. Each connection shows the name of the wireless network.
- Click on the WiFi connection you want to use the internet with.
- click on Make a connection.
- Have you been online on that connection before? Then you no longer need to enter a password. Are you making contact with a secure connection for the first time? Then type the password and click Next one.
