Convert currencies into notes
Are you going on holiday to a country where they pay with a different currency than euros? Then you will undoubtedly find it interesting to convert this. You can use the calculator app for this, but also the note app. You can convert currencies directly from a note. This is useful if you do preparations and use different currencies in the overview.
Enable mathematical results
Before you can get started, you must first enable the matheman results.
- Open notes on a Mac
- Navigate to the menu bar
- Click on ‘Format’
- Go to ‘MASHARNERS EXTENSIONS’
- Enable a desired option
You have the choice of three options: off, add results and suggest results. The difference is in automation. If you choose ‘Add results’, notes will automatically convert strange currency and units for you. If you choose ‘Set results for’, this will only take place after you have placed the same sign (=) behind a strange currency or unit.
On an iPhone or iPad it is not possible to change the behavior for these mathemin results and is only presented after typing an equal sign.
Use mathematical results
- Open a note (iOS 18, iPados 18, macos sequoia or newer)
- Type the currency symbol or write the official name; ¥ or yen
- Fill in the amount
- If necessary, type the same sign (=)
Notes will automatically convert the amount to a currency linked to the languages you have set to your device. A foreign currency will usually be converted to euros. Do you write down euros? Then this is usually converted to American dollars.
You can not only use the above steps for currency, but also for other units you can convert the values in the same way. Type the number followed by the unit and the same sign.
