Czinger Hyper GT: more than 1,200 hp and gull-wing doors

The American Czinger has pulled the curtain on the Hyper GT in its home country. A sleek coupe with gull-wing doors and the insane powertrain of the 21C.

Until now we know Czinger mainly from the absurdly fast 21C. That is a hybrid hypercar with enormous power at a relatively low weight. It became clear a year ago that Czinger has a blood-fast monster at home. Then the 21C clocked a new lap record at Laguna Seca. The 21C is not really practical, because it is a two-seater with two seats behind each other. Kind of like in a fighter plane. However, in February 2021 AutoWeek surfaced patent sketches of a coupe that would likely dry up as a Czinger model. That is indeed the case: during Monterey Car Week, Czinger presents that car as a Hyper GT.

The Czinger Hyper GT is nothing like the 21C, at least in terms of looks. The flashy-lined GT with two gull-wing doors does have the same powertrain as the 21C. At the British coach we read that it is just as powerful in the Hyper GT as in the 21C. That means that there is more than 1,250 horsepower available. That’s thanks to a 2.88-litre V8 that pulls up to 11,000 rpm and drives the rear wheels, with two electric motors driving the front wheels. In the 1,240-kilogram 21C, this is good for a 0-100 km/h time of just 1.9 seconds and a top speed of 452 km/h. The Hyper GT is logically a bit heavier and therefore slightly slower, only Czinger does not release any figures yet.

The Czinger Hyper GT should provide the manufacturer with greater sales numbers. Czinger would bet on an annual production of 1,000 units, at a price of close to €1 million. The Americans will announce more about the Hyper GT at a later date.
