Dacia Spring turns out to be a hit

Dacia Spring

The Dacia Spring is currently the cheapest electric car you can buy in Europe. The car has not even been on the market for a full year when it has already taken a prominent place in Dacia sales.

The Dacia Spring has a starting price of €18,550 in the Netherlands, which makes it the cheapest electric car that you can buy new not only here, but in almost all of Europe. In March last year, Dacia opened the order books for the Spring and in the 9 months of 2021 in which the car could be ordered, an order was placed for no less than 46,000 copies. Dacia delivered 27,876 units throughout 2021.

With just under 28,000 copies sold, the electric Spring outperformed the Dokker, Lodgy and Logan. Admittedly, these have never been the most popular models of the brand in Europe, but a listing in the top 3 after only 9 months is certainly not a bad score. Certainly not for an electric car, after all, they are not popular in every country in which Dacia is active. 80 percent of Spring buyers were new to Dacia. The Comfort Plus version, the second and immediately highest version in the Netherlands, accounted for 90 percent of the sales.

The Dacia Spring has to tolerate both the Duster and the Sandero. In 2021 Dacia sold 186,001 Dusters and no less than 226,825 Sanderos. Interesting facts: the Sandero is the most popular privately purchased car in Europe for the fifth year in a row. The Duster is Europe’s most popular privately-purchased SUV. Since the launch of the first generation in 2010, the Duster has now sold more than 2 million units.

In total, Dacia sold 537,095 cars last year, 3.1 percent more than a year earlier.
