If you are still behind your computer in the evenings, a dark mode is a relief for your eyes. Chrome also has such a mode. Since there are several versions of the popular browser, it may not always be clear how to set up dark mode in Chrome on your device. We explain it in this article.
Windows 10
Chrome doesn’t have a special dark mode built in. You will have to arrange this via the settings in Windows itself. go on you Windows PC to the Settings app and choose Colors in the left menu. Put a check in Dark below Choose a default app mode. In Windows 11 you will find the option at Personal settings in the Settings app.
Then all app windows, including Chrome’s, will be displayed in dark mode.
macOS
On your Mac, go to System Preferences and click General. In this menu you can enable dark mode. Just like on a Windows PC, all app windows are given a dark tint.
android
If you use an Android smartphone or tablet, you can simply set the dark mode in the Chrome app. Open the browser and tap the three dots at the top right of the screen and go to the settings. Bee Themes you can then go for a dark color. In the settings you can also System Default select. Chrome will then take the current settings into account android. If you have put your phone in dark mode, the browser can also be seen directly in dark mode. This way you don’t have to manually switch between light and dark in Chrome every time.
iPhone and iPad
Google says it is working on a dark mode for the iPhone– and iPad version of Chrome. It is unclear when we can expect this. Until then, you have to manage it on your phone or tablet yourself. Since iOS 13, the iPhone has a dark mode, which you enable by going to the Settings app and then Display and brightness to go. Choose Dark below Display to enable dark mode. On an iPad, this works in a similar way.
You can also have the dark mode switched on or off automatically on your iPhone and iPad, for example at sunset or at a time of your choice. You do this again in the menu Display and brightness by the slider at the back Automatically to put. Add Options choose what time the dark mode should come on: during sunrise and sunset or at a time of your choosing.
