We always try to include the complete model name in the headline above an article, but in the case of the Dartz Prombron Black Alligator MMXX – Black Tiger Lunar Year Edition we failed to do so. That’s not the only striking thing about this device.

The most notable car maker in the world is without a doubt Dartz. The Latvian brand does not care about the rest of the world, proudly presents maximum gaudy products and carries the associated, inevitable association with dicators and other unsavory figures as a compliment.

The press release about the latest creation, written in dubious English, states that the car was made in honor of the Chinese Year of The Tiger, which kicked off February 1. It is an orange/black version of the ‘regular’ Black Alligator, which is distantly based on a Mercedes-Maybach GLS. Compared to that car, the Dartz has an extra 100 to 300 horsepower, “…so that you can escape the shots of villains faster than they can test the quality of the armor.” Because yes, that armor is there too. Dartz states that despite that, the car is not heavier than the donor GLS. The car owes its bizarre shapes to it, although there are also useless additions. Not our words, by the way: “Wings on hood. Useless – but stylish”, the press release states. The car also has eight exhaust pipes, because ‘each cylinder deserves its own pipe’. If you don’t need extra protection, you can also order this monster without armor.

The fact that analog counters can be seen in the photos is a result of Dartz’s special philosophy. The brand is not too fond of digital frills (“our customers also have real watches”) and therefore resolutely pulls the ‘tablets’ of Mercedes’ MBUX system from the dashboard.

Dartz says he was tempted to buy this product because the year of the tiger “sounds better than that of the rat” (2020). The brand also emphasizes that it certainly does not want to limit itself to China with this product. It states that there are also people in other regions who “can pay that much money, and who like black/orange cars”. The fictional dictator Aladeen – known from The Dictator – would also have added this device to his so-called collection. How proud Dartz is of that relationship is apparent from the video below.
