Delete WhatsApp messages: soon they will disappear automatically

The popular chat service is getting a new function. Soon it will be possible to have your messages on WhatsApp automatically deleted.

WhatsApp beta 2.22.25.20 shows disappearing messages

In the latest beta of WhatsApp (WhatsApp beta 2.22.25.20), clues have been found that point to a cool new feature. You will soon be able to automatically delete or disappear your messages in WhatsApp. This feature is much like sharing temporary photos on Snapchat or other social media apps.

‘Automatically delete messages: only for Android’

Although this function according to WABetaInfo can only be tested on phones that run on Android, we do expect that soon you will also be able to have messages automatically deleted on WhatsApp with your iPhone.

In fact; your iPhone is already preventing you from taking a screenshot of this content. WhatsApp will soon roll out this feature to regular text messages as well. This is called ‘view once’.

This feature can be tested in the beta by tapping the special submit button you see above in the image. If you look closely, you will see that it has a lock on it. If the lock is activated, it means that WhatsApp will automatically delete your sent messages when your recipient has viewed them.

This is very useful when you share important information and then immediately want to delete the messages from the recipient’s phone. WhatsApp does not store the messages that are automatically deleted, because they are encrypted.
