A fit boxer needs fresh air, and the BMW R 1250 Series is no different. A Stage 1 drop-in filter is available for all 1250 models, and a Stage 2 kit is even available for some.
DNA Stage 1
The Stage 1 insert filter provides an airflow increase of 15.3%. This increase ensures an improved air/fuel mixture, resulting in more power and smoother engine running. The Stage 1 sets are easy to assemble, because it replaces the original paper filter 1-on-1.
In addition to the increased airflow, each DNA High Performance filter provides an ISO-certified filter efficiency of 98-99%. This prevents debris in the engine’s airbox, and more importantly, debris in the engine itself.
DNA Stage 2
For riders who want to put even more emphasis on power increases, a Stage 2 kit is available for the R 1250 GS (and Adventure) and R 1250 RT. This filter not only replaces the original air filter element, but also the plastic frame that is located in the airbox.
After removing this frame, two additional vents emerge in the airbox, which the conical air filter takes full advantage of by being located lower in the airbox. The result: an airflow increase of 38.5%, a filter surface that has been increased by 80%, and here again a guaranteed filter efficiency of 98-99%.
Note: the original airbox does not have to be removed even with the Stage 2 kit.

Cleaner for your engine, cleaner for the environment
Thanks to the extremely high filter efficiency, DNA filters ensure a cleaner engine, and therefore less chance of engine damage. In addition, the filters contribute to a cleaner environment, because the products last the life of the engine. Never replace a filter again; a simple cleaning is sufficient.
DNA Filters are available through the better stocked dealers. A filter is available or is being developed for almost all engines. More information about the DNA range within MDI can be found at https://www.mdi-online.nl.
